The son-in-laws Quilt.

In the quest to make a throw sized quilt for everyone in my family, I finally got to give Eric V, my SIL, his quilt.  It was finished last year but I had not seen him to give it to him in person.  They visited at Easter.   Eric's favorite color is red.  I had not made a quilt with batiks yet.

After I started this quilt, unfortunately, the family puppy was hit by a car and passed.  Eric was very close to Chase, so I decided to add a memory of him to Eric's quilt back

He was well pleased with the results.  That always makes me happy too!

On the design wall

The 3rd of the quilts I have commissions for is on the design wall.  The client wanted Chevron so that is what she is getting.  This is still some of the Horizon bundle I bought. I am making this the easy way using half square triangles like Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt Co. teaches on her videos. I have ordered a charm pack of this fabric to get the size up some with out using borders.  It should be in this week.  Until then I am working on my sisters quilt which you can see here.

Rainbow Swirl Quilt top -Finished!

Rainbow swirl quilt top is finished!  I used Moda's Horizon by Kate Spain fabric that I had left over from a bundle I bought for the Moda Love Quilt.  This is the 2nd of the 3 I have commissions for.  I am going to get all 3 tops made and then get back with the client about backing fabric.

I found the pattern on the Down Grapevine Lane Blog.

I may put another border to get the size up a bit more.  I'll let the client decide if she wants it or not.

On the design wall: Rainbow Swirl Quilt

I am working on the placement of the blocks right now.  Hope to get it all worked out and start sewing today or tomorrow.  Still using the Moda fabric Horizons fat quarter bundle I bought.  I will get 3 throw sized quilts out of that fat quarter bundle.

Inspiration quilt from Down Grapevine Lane blog
I am going to have to add several borders to get it big enough.  I needed more of the white fabric for the squares and found a grey to make one border with
Leftover HST for another throw.  Chevron I think:

Moda Love top is finished!

The Moda Love quilt top is finished.  It is big!  6' x 6'.  Now it needs a backing and to be quilted.  And I have it sold!  A neighbor wants it and 3 more!  I have enough of the fabric left to do 2 more-just in different patterns and she wants one for her husband with deer on it.  I wasn't sure if I was going to sell quilts or what.  I just knew I had to keep making them.  So my first commission!  I'm excited!

On the design wall--Moda Love

I saw this quilt and fell in love.  I wanted it as close to the picture I found on Pinterest as I could get.  Here's the inspiration:
She's so pretty!  Here's mine on the design board:

The pattern:
The fabric.  I messed up and bought a fat quarter bundle instead of the 10" layer cake, so I had to cut the 10" squares.  So I still have plenty of the beautiful fabric left for another project!

WIP--Progress made on Big Granny Squares

Got the quilt top finished and put together expect the border.  I am very pleased with it.  Was a quick and easy pattern

                                                                    Blue border.

This is the fabric I choose yesterday at Hancock's Fabric.  I just love it.  It was a little pricey.  Thank goodness for their 20% off coupon!
I can't wait to get it all put together.  I need to take the top to the embroiderers first to have my sister's name put on it.  Guess it's time to start another.
